Back on the move: Growing Bahrain’s capability in integrated healthcare

Bahrain is experiencing an ever-increasing choice in complementary healthcare. From a vision to ‘become a regional health hub’ of just a few years ago, the health sector has grown to offer a diverse range of therapies, encouraged by the foresight of Bahrain’s National Health Regulatory Authority.

Back on the Move founder, Lana Peters, heads up the team and is delighted to introduce the Clinic’s three other Osteopaths, Terence, Deborah and Gemma together with Dr Abdulrahman, who offers Chiropractic treatments.

Terence McSweeney

A graduate of the British College of Osteopathic Medicine, Terence has a wide range of experience from private practice in London, to NHS and university settings. He has developed a particular interest in the treatment of chronic pain after studying an MSc in pain management at the University of Edinburgh.

Terence has an additional interest in treating sports injuries, influenced by his love of sports. He uses a range of approaches to facilitate recovery and return to sport including instrument assisted soft tissue mobilisation, rehabilitation techniques, dry needling, and osteopathic manipulation. When necessary Terence will take a multidisciplinary approach that involves referral to other specialised clinicians to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.

Deborah Jones

Deborah many qualifications include a Masters in Osteopathy. As a primary care professional, Deborah likes to listen, observe, diagnose, manage and evaluate in a patient-centred manner. To date, she has enjoyed treating clients in two well-established London clinics and working as a lecturer in Swansea University’s Osteopathy department.

Deborah combines osteopathic techniques with dry needling and works integratively with other manual therapists, rehab specialists, nutritionists and mindfulness coaches to help patients get back on the move.

Gemma Roca

Gemma is an Osteopath, Physiotherapist and Certified Lymphedema Therapist. After finalising her studies she worked in a hospital in Spain treating a variety of conditions. At the same time, she gained her Masters In Osteopathy and Manual Therapy, where she learned different techniques and treatments such as: visceral and cranial osteopathy, cranial sacral therapy and myofacial induction.

In 2012 she moved to Dubai, where she was working for two well-known hospitals using her knowledge to improve the health of her patients. She studied to become a Certified Lymphedema Therapist in Germany at the Foldi Clinic, one of the pioneers and founders of this technique, which is a huge support to recovering cancer patients.

Abdulrahman Al-Hashim

Dr. Abdulrahman has been practicing Chiropractic for over 20 years in Los Angeles, California, where his select patient base included many Hollywood starlites. He enjoys his recent move back to the region bringing his vast knowledge and experience in treating neuro-musculoskeletal disorders.

Chiropractic care involves treatment of the joints in the body especially the spine. Utilising gentle non surgical techniques for all ages. The chiropractic principle involves spinal corrections to remove pressure off the nerve which allows the body to function at an optimal level and naturally heal itself.
