The American University of Bahrain (AUBH) has been active in ensuring an exciting American-style education to their students, with some high-profile opportunities that pose unforgettable memories to the young individuals.

The sports community at their campus is ever-growing, and they have recently taken it up several notches by inviting two celebrity sports personalities as guests to meet the AUBH students and faculty.

Liverpool Football Club’s legendary Welsh player and all-time leading goal-scorer, Ian Rush MBE visited for an autograph signing in late October. The superfans gathered around him in elation with their jerseys, goalkeeper gloves, shoes for signing and posed for photos before an enthusiastic Q&A session with the former player himself.

In November, they invited motorsports legend David Richards who visited as the chairman of ProDrive, a leading UK-based motorsports manufacturer. He also assumes many other titles such as chairman of motorsport UK, former chairman of Aston Martin, former team principal BAR and Benetton F1 teams, and World Rally Champion in 1981.

He, alongside his chief chassis engineer, Paul Doe, addressed students at the AUBH auditorium with a mechanical engineering competition pitch that is to innovate the future of sustainability in motorsport through hybrid engines and e-fuel, that would propel racing into a new era. This is mainly focused on their new model for the Bahrain Raid Xtreme car.

The winners of the competition (2 students each from 3 universities) will achieve an all-expenses-paid internship to ProDrive in the UK. This unique challenge enhanced student morale, especially those on the campus who are passionate about motorsports and mechanical engineering.

AUBH’s proactivity in harboring one-of-a-kind student experiences and cultivating their sports repertoire is launching a new frontier in American-style education in Bahrain. They host guest speakers and key entrepreneurs on campus all year long and specifically have made progress in the football and motor partnerships in the Kingdom.
