Most Dubai hotels try quite hard to impress you the moment you walk in. Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel is not one of them. The effort that goes into creating a quieter yet immersive stay experience is important to appreciate. The lobby greets you with wooden ceilings, soft green floors, and a glass sculpture made of hundreds of reflective leaves, but the overall effect is calm rather than theatrical. You feel the city slow down a little. For a property sitting in the middle of Business Bay, with the Burj Khalifa filling half the skyline outside, that is no small achievement.
The hotel opened in early 2026 as Anantara’s first city property in Dubai, following a three-year refurbishment. The result is a well-considered place to stay that works for short business trips, long weekends, and most things in between.

The hotel is about 20 minutes from Dubai International Airport by car. Dubai Mall and DIFC are around ten minutes away, and Sheikh Zayed Road is easy to reach. For anyone flying in from Bahrain, that combination of airport access and city-centre location is the main practical draw.
There are 252 rooms and suites across 35 floors. Entry-level rooms start at 52 sqm, which is larger than what you usually get in this part of Dubai. The beds are comfortable, the bathrooms have both a tub and a walk-in shower, and the floor-to-ceiling windows make a real difference, particularly if you get a Burj Khalifa view.

Standard amenities include free Wi-Fi, a flatscreen TV with Chromecast, and a stocked minibar. The Deluxe Suites at 133 sqm and Luxury Suites at 184 sqm work well for families, with separate living areas. At the top end, the Anantara Royal Suite includes a private plunge pool on the balcony.
A few small things worth knowing: the wardrobe space is generous, the air conditioning is quiet, and the curtains close fully, which sounds obvious but often is not the case.
There are eight dining outlets, and they cover different needs without much overlap. Ziya, the all-day dining signature restaurant, handles breakfast, lunch and dinner with global flavours ready to drop on your plate. The Lobby Lounge serves afternoon tea and lighter bites, and Mood Bar is the spot for cocktails in the evening.

For something more memorable, three restaurants stand out. Girl & The Goose serves modern Mesoamerican food from Chef Gabriela Chamorro and is worth booking even if you are not staying. Kimura-ya is the UAE’s first izakaya-style Japanese restaurant, with Chef Kohei Kobayashi running the kitchen. Punjab Grill does refined Indian dining with an open kitchen.
The Pool Bar is the place to be during the day for snacks and drinks. In-room dining runs 24 hours, which is helpful for late arrivals.
Anantara Spa is on-site and open from 11:00 am to 8:00 pm. Treatments are well-paced, and the therapists know what they are doing. The outdoor pool is temperature-controlled, so it stays usable in summer when other hotel pools become unbearable. There is a lifeguard on duty from 7:00 am to 9:00 pm.

The fitness centre is open 24 hours and has the standard Technogym setup. Workout videos can be downloaded to use anywhere in the hotel, which is a nice touch if you prefer training in your room.
The meeting facilities are practical rather than flashy. The Mirage ballroom takes up to 550 people and can be divided into three. There are also eight meeting rooms, an executive boardroom, and outdoor spaces in the courtyard and by the pool that handle up to 150 guests each. Wedding planning is handled in-house.
The hotel holds Gold certification from Green Growth 2050 for its sustainability work, including water conservation and cruelty-free amenities. It is also a Certified Autism Centre, with a low-sensory room, noise-cancelling headphones, and flexible dining times available on request.
Anantara Downtown Dubai Hotel does the basics very well. The rooms are spacious, the staff are attentive without hovering, and the food is genuinely good across most outlets. The location works for both business and leisure, and the property feels calm in a part of Dubai that often does not.
If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Dubai, this is a reliable, comfortable choice that earns its place in Business Bay.
