Bahrain Confidential shares a conversation with hospitality and management expert Madan Perattur.
Over the past two decades, Madan Perattur has been a popular name in the hospitality industry. Madan is frank about his humble beginnings from a professional boxer and martial arts instructor to what he is today. Currently, he owns a hospitality management firm, Remya Management with his partner Sha. He also co-owns Miami Events Bahrain which brings never-before-seen acts to the island.
“Apart from being a professional boxer, I always have the thought and feeling of wanting to work in the hospitality field and entertainment business”, Madan said. In 1998, he started his first job in a hotel in Dubai. Soon after, he moved to Bahrain in 1999 and worked for Dadabhai Group of Hotels.
Hard work, perseverance and determination are Madan’s recipe for success. “Nothing is impossible… I first started working at the Juffair Grand Hotel. Who would have thought that I’ll be one of its owners today?”, Madan happily said.
Madan is a very active individual; he works for 16 to 17 hours a day with no off days. When he’s not busy working, he goes to the gym build his stamina and improve his fitness. To make up for the long hours, he makes it a point to travel around the world with his family every three months.
Madan continues to educate himself with the latest trends in hospitality and business management. Having travelled numerous countries in Europe, Asia and America, he has acquired some invaluable insights that he reflects in managing hotels, clubs, restaurants and more. In the next few months, he is looking forward to bringing in some popular international artists to Coral Bay.
In terms of the hospitality industry, Madan has a very positive outlook. When asked about his views on the constant increase of hotels and the low demand, he commented “You cannot say that there’s no business. If you focus on the guests’ wants and needs, there will always be something to offer”. He also believes that Bahrain’s tourism sector is doing their part in bringing in visitors from all over the world.
From humble beginnings, Madan has turned establishments into thriving businesses. He is a classical reminder that through determination, hard work and willingness to succeed, anyone can overcome their personal circumstances to achieve great things in life.
