43RD FINE ARTS EXHIBITION

Where: Bahrain National Museum

Like every year, Bahrain’s annual Fine Arts Exhibition will bring together talented artists who will express their creativity with their artworks. In addition, there will be a range of supporting events including movie nights and workshops and lectures. What’s different this year is that the exhibition has opened its doors to artists from all around the world residing in Bahrain upholding the belief that art has no country or boundaries.

AUTUMN FAIR

Where: Bahrain International Exhibition & Convention Centre

FOOD IS CULTURE

After a successful first edition, Food is Culture is back for a second time. Five chefs and five visual artists will collaborate and explore interesting ways of creating and presenting art using their respective media – food and art. Don’t miss the display and chance to try out the delicious and artsy food!

MALJA COLLAB

When: 28th January

Where: Malja, Amwaj

Malja launches the Collaboration Lab (Collab) this New Year. The project hopes to host seasonal exhibitions brining artists of different disciplines, together: what happens when poetry is transformed into sculpture, or music into illustrations? The First Experiment, ‘Words Are Blind’ will launch on 28th January where writers and visual artists will be invited to create magic together.

15/15 Contemporary Art Meets Cultural Heritage

Where: 15 locations (Saturday to Thursday, 9pm to 1pm & 4pm to 7pm)

Discover Bahrain’s cultural and architectural heritage through contemporary art. Tucked away in Muharraq and Manama, the traditional houses of the Shaikh Ebrahim Center will play host to modern artworks by fifteen local artists. These site-specific creations are inspired by the history surrounding the houses, their architecture, and the personalities, missions and crafts to who the buildings are dedicated.

A Grain of Sand Concert

Where: La Fontaine Arts Centre

Bahrain- based guitarist and composer, Jason Carter, explores the magical world of pearl divers for his project, ‘A Grain of Sand’. The musician will perform alongside Bahraini pearl divers, marrying traditional Arabic music with contemporary tunes in a concert next month. Further, he hopes to release a documentary film on his experience interviewing the divers, which will be ready around the Spring of 2017.
