Huda Kattan is Back to Filming Arabic Makeup Tutorials

Nearly two years ago, Huda Kattan uploaded on to her YouTube account a makeup tutorial in Arabic. The nearly-10-minute video covered everything to do with foundation, and has garnered almost 1 million views since its upload. And two days ago, Arabic-speaking fans eager for more tutorials in their native language were left pleasantly surprised when the makeup mogul shared a “Baking 101” tutorial with her 2.4 million subscribers, her first Arabic-speaking tutorial in over a year.

“Hi my loves! I really wanted to do a makeup tutorial in Arabic so I decided to do a Baking 101 for you!” She captioned the how-to video, which sees her use her brand new Huda Beauty Easy Bake. “I hope you guys enjoy it and let me know if you want to see more videos in Arabic,” she adds, before apologizing in advance for her less-than-perfect Arabic. “P.s please excuse my mistakes! Love you guys and thank you so much for watching xxx.”

Though the beauty-blogger-turned-entrepreneur has Iraqi roots, Arabic is not her first language. This is mostly due to the fact that she was born in the American state of Oklahoma, before moving to Tennessee with her family when she was two years old. Kattan’s Iraqi parents independently moved to America, where her father, Ibrahim, went to study mechanical engineering and her mother, Susu Al Qazzaz, taught biology.

Since its upload, the tutorial has accumulated over 150,000 views from impressed viewers who took to the comment section to praise the beauty mogul’s Arabic skills. “Your Arabic is so improved and it makes me super proud of you Huda ❤️ Thank you for being an inspiration to us Iraqi girls and women. I will always look up to you,” wrote one user. Another wrote: “As a German-Arabic I am so stunned by how fluent you are in Arabic, as it’s so hard for me.” Even those that don’t speak the language were charmed. “I don’t speak or understand Arabic, but this was so soothing to listen to. Keep the Arabic videos coming!” one fan said. We couldn’t agree more.
