A Guide to Staycations

Ooooh I do love a good staycation. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy an overseas jaunt as much as the next person…

and am a firm believer that travelling can make you smarter, stronger and more socially adept. However, I always find myself more than ready to head back home towards the end of each and every holiday, regardless of how amazing its been. And if you’ve got a holiday at home planned, here are a few ideas to help you make the most of this valuable time.

Plan ahead:

Minutes can drift into hours, hours into days, and you’re still on the sofa, phone in hand, scrolling aimlessly. You know it. To ensure that you spend your break time in the best way possible, pop together a little staycation schedule. Nothing too rigorous, all of it enjoyable. How about coffee with the girls on Monday, dinner and drinks on Tuesday, mani/pedi and brand spanking new do on Wednesday.

Being on staycation is the perfect time to try out that new restaurant you’ve been wanting to visit, or to give those delicious-sounding recipes a whirl. Whether in your own kitchen or in somebody else’s, make sure that your home holiday is as tasty as can be.

Beautify your surroundings:

Clear off the counters, plump up the pillows, light the smelly candles, and buy yourself the most beautiful bunch of flowers: because you are worth it.

Eat as well as you can:

Get (or keep) moving – this one’s a no-brainer. Exercise is always the first thing to fall to the wayside when we’re busy so staycation = no excuses. Do it first thing in the morning so you don’t have time to talk yourself out of it, and try to make it a habit you stick to once the holiday has come to an end.

Happy holidays beautiful people! xxx
